Raising Big Bucks: The Complete Guide to Producing Pledge-Based Special Events
Published in Hardcover by Bonus Books (November, 1996)
Author: Cindy R. Kaitcer
Average review score:

This book was great!
The book had wonderfully simple, step by step directions on how to raise a lot of money through events, including how to create a budget, how to recruit participants, and how to make your cause compelling. The information in the book could apply to almost any event. Very practical, yet powerful information. I would recommend it without reservation to anyone interested in raising a lot of money...from a small school to a large nonprofit.

Raising of Money Thirty-Five Essentials Every Trustee Should Know
Published in Hardcover by Third Sector Pr (April, 1984)
Author: James Gregory Lord
Average review score:

Enjoyable, with an intellectual appeal.
This book will likely not become obsolete as long as nonprofits are raising money. It doesn't attempt to address many specifics, as are different in every situation and with every organization wishing to raise money. Instead, it addresses the theories and philosophies of philanthropy and the ideas behind the core art of fund raising. I'm having my employees and board of directors review this book when I am finished with it.

A Rancid Little Christmas
Published in Paperback by Simon Spotlight (01 October, 2000)
Authors: Terry Collins and Mel Grant
Average review score:

AN INSTANT CATDOG CLASSIC!
Clever, engaging, and worthy of being animated and turned into a seasonal episode of the series, this is one of the better NICKELODEON juvenile novels and a superior treatment of the tricky characters from the CatDog universe. Fast paced and laugh out loud funny for kids (and adults), this surreal treatment of Rancid Rabbit's attempt to muscle out Santa Claus AND the Easter Bunny is not to be missed. Highest Recommendation!

Random Access Murder
Published in Paperback by Avon (August, 1988)
Author: Linda Grant
Average review score:

Excellent
I spent a good deal of time this summer searching for this title and was thrilled to learn that it was to be reprinted. Catherine Sayler is an excellent character who is an interesting member of the California female private investigators who fill my bookshelves and entertain my friends and me. I recommend this to all who enjoy Kinsey Milhone and the other private "eyes" of California. Enjoy.

Recipes from a Provençal Kitchen
Published in Paperback by Flammarion (February, 2000)
Authors: Michel Biehn, Bernard Touillon, Anthony Grant, and Christine Grant
Average review score:

A thoroughly entertaining and useful and beautiful cookbook
There are cookbooks and there are cookbooks, and probably too many of them to begin with, but Recipes from a Provencal Kitchen is definitely not one of them. The recipes, the format, the photographs are first rate and throughout the book one easily senses Michel Biehn's love for Provence. First rate!

The " Red Dwarf" Scripts
Published in Paperback by Penguin Books Ltd (25 March, 1993)
Author: Grant Naylor
Average review score:

Stick to the Script
Someone may ask you what the point is of owning the "Red Dwarf" scripts if you've seen the TV episodes. It's a fair question. You may even own the video tapes. But imagine this nightmare scenario:

You're sitting at home watching your favourite "Red Dwarf" episode, laughing along, when all of a sudden a power blackout leaves you sitting in the dark. "What am I going to do?" you cry in despair. "What's going to make me laugh now?" Tears begin to flow.

However, in a parallel universe there is another version of you who happens to own a copy of the "Red Dwarf" scripts: Primordial Soup. All is not lost. With a copy of the scripts and the aid of a torch you can simply pick up from where the characters were cut off in mid-sentence. The book even contains photographs in the middle section to help you remember what the characters look like. Life isn't so cruel after all.

In this book Rob Grant and Doug Naylor have chosen what they consider to be "the least worst" of the "Red Dwarf" scripts. There are six episodes altogether: "Polymorph", "Marooned", "Dimension Jump" (my favourite), "Justice", "Back to Reality" and "Psirens".

It doesn't need to be said that the ideas used in "Red Dwarf" are clever and funny. The episodes chosen here are from the first five years of "Red Dwarf", before the budget became too extravagant, making it possible for these episodes to be "remastered". You can read these scripts and still laugh while your other self discovers there are no batteries for the torch either. Enjoy the lunacy.

Religion in 19th Century America (Religion in America Life)
Published in Library Binding by Oxford Univ Pr Childrens Books (May, 2000)
Author: Grant Wacker
Average review score:

Great Intro to American Religion
Wacker's book is a great introduction to nineteenth century American religion. It is most appropriate for those who have no (or very little) background in American religious history. Wacker draws together the main strands of nineteenth century American religion with precision and style. Anyone who wants a quick introduction to American religion in the nineteenth century should check out this book.

The Retention/Promotion Checklist
Published in Paperback by Crystal Springs Books (01 September, 1998)
Authors: Irv Richardson and Jim Grant
Average review score:

A Practical Tool for Educators
As an elementary principal I have experienced the frustration of both parents and teachers who have tried to make wise choices about retention without a tool to guide the decision making. The Retention/Promotion Checklist provides such a tool. The checklist considers multiple factors that can impact the success of retaining or promoting a child. The checklist is clear and easy to use for parents and educators. We'll be using the book in my school to help make good decisions, particularly when there is a difference in opinion about whether or not to retain a child.

Revelation (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament)
Published in Hardcover by Baker Book House (October, 2002)
Author: Grant R. Osborne
Average review score:

Excellent for students and teachers
More accessible for the student than Beale, he is very readable and lucid and the layout is clear. He compares the views of different commentators (useful because he includes Beale and Aune). He deals with most options on difficult passages before coming to his own conclusion. Despite its size he is not over detailed. His interpretation is eclectic, i.e. he combines preterist, idealist and futurist, with the futurist being primary rather than idealist. Premill on chap 20. Uses his own translation of the Greek, which is better than the NIV. He is very useful on the Greek and Greek text is transliterated. Footnotes are kept to a minimum and textual variants are left to the end of each section. There is a good bibliography and four indexes. The introduction is short (49 p) but adequate for the student. Comments on a paragraph at a time, individual verses are not indicated, which is a pity. He is a little weak on numerology and sometimes fails to see or mention contrasts such as the new Jerusalem the Bride and Babylon the whore. Overall however, a very useful commentary, which I highly recommend for students, teachers and preachers. I found him hard to put down, he reads so well. He bodes well to become the standard evangelical commentary for students.
